What is resin printing?

Answer

Resin-based 3D printing uses liquid resin that is cured one layer at a time by a laser in the base of the printer. Resin printing is also called sterolithography or SLA printing. The UAB Libraries have 3 SLA manufactured by Formlabs. The SLA printers are located in the  Lister Hill Library 3D Printing. UAB students, faculty, and staff who are interested in using the SLA printers must completed both Introductory 3D Printer Training and SLA Printer training before submitting prints to the SLA printers.

The UAB Libraries do not permit the use of 3rd party resins in the Formlabs printers in Lister Hill Library.
