Can I access the UAB salary information book online?

Answer

UAB salary information used to appear in a printed salary book held at the libraries. Now it is available online in UAB Expenditure Transactions. There are some differences between the previous printed book and the online version.

In the online version:

  • You can look at the last few years as well as the current fiscal year.
  • Instead of seeing a total yearly salary, you will see what the payee has been paid, broken down by payment date.
  • There is no department information, only the payee's Sub Category, such as SALARY -- INSTR/FELL/FACULTY or SALARY -- SECRETARIAL/CLERICAL, etc.

To search effectively:

  • You will need to know how the payee's name is listed in the system. To do this, go to the UAB Campus Directory and look for the payee. When you get to the online salary book, type in the payee's name as it is listed in the campus directory.
  • You might want to limit your results to just SALARY WAGES. To do that, click on the drop down box by Category and select SALARY WAGES. Otherwise you will get what they were reimbursed for travel, supplies, and other line items you might not need.

Remember that only salary paid from the State of Alabama is listed. UAB Expenditures does not include money from private practice, grant or contract income, or any other income not from the state.
