What if a journal is not found in JCR or does not provide an impact factor?

Answer

A journal must be in publication for at least three years before they can be assigned an impact factor. Many legitimate journals that are very new or have recently changed their name will not appear in JCR or have an impact factor yet. Be cautious of the journal if they promote the Index Copernicus Value (ICV) metric. This is a questionable metric that is almost exclusively associated with predatory publishers.
