Q. Can I access the UAB salary information book online?

The UAB salary book (UAB Expenditure Transactions) is now available online.

There are some differences in the information needed to retrieve results and the results that will be returned.  In the printed salary book, you looked for the person's last name and then looked for first name or initial.  You could also see their department and position, yearly salary, or hourly pay rate.

In the online version, you can look at the current fiscal year as well as the last few years.  Instead of seeing a total yearly salary, you will see what the payee has been paid broken down by payment date.  There is no department information, only the payee's Sub Category, such as SALARY -- INSTR/FELL/FACULTY or SALARY -- SECRETARIAL/CLERICAL, etc.

As in the printed book, you will need to know how the payee's name is listed in the system.  The best way to do this is to go to the UAB Campus Directory and look for the payee.  The Campus Directory gives you a few more search options such as part of a name, building code, or UAB email address.  When you get to the online salary book, type in the payee's name as it is listed in the campus directory.

You might want to limit your results to just SALARY WAGES.  To do that, click on the drop down box by Category and select SALARY WAGES.  Otherwise you will get what they were reimbursed for travel, supplies, and other line items you might not need.

Remember that only the salary that is paid from the State of Alabama is in the salary book.  Money from any private practice, grant or contract income, or any other income that is not state money is not included in the salary book.
