Q. How can I find dissertations and theses in the library?
Print copies of some UAB dissertations and theses can be found at the Sterne and Lister Hill Libraries. You can check for availability by searching in UAB Libraries' OneSearch by title or author. To search by department or academic field, try typing the department or field name followed by the word "theses" (plural), e.g. "sociology theses."
For online access, UAB electronic theses and dissertations are included in the UAB Digital Collections. Theses and dissertations are usually available 3 to 5 months after the student has graduated unless the student has chosen an embargo period of either 6 months, 1 year or 2 years.
UAB theses and dissertations can also be found online in Proquest Dissertations & Theses at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
To search for dissertations and theses from other institutions, use the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database.
